The Three Faces of Aljazerra
Let's take a look at the three faces of Aljazerra:
Here is their "Europe and North American Edition" site.
Here is their "English version" site.
And here is their home page in Arabic.
Take a minute and go through each.
Instructive, no?
The Europe and North American version almost makes them look respectable. It's positively western in it's design. . It's actually fairly evenhanded. There's even a section "Who's telling the Truth: Both Sides to Every Story" in which they list the major stories of the day and link to differing opinions. "Let's Talk" that invites readers to send in letters, and then readers can post their comments about the letter. Here you don't need to go far to find the raving lefties, as the response to this letter illustrates.
The "English Version" is much more ideological. They drop the pretense of objectivity and let the anger flow. Here you'll find news stories titled "Israel Commits 'war crimes' in Rafah". Here they make no bones about their opinion of our invasion of Iraq. As with most western lefties these days they make the obligatory statement about "the blatant lies over weapons of mass destruction". Explaining to them that a "lie" is when you knowingly mislead, and that we simply got it (mostly) wrong is not a lie but simply a mistake... oh what's the point.
I searched in vain for a single mention of the brutal murder of Nicholas Berg.

Oh am sorry the jazerra did something wrong in stating that the israeli's commited masecars in rafh and forgot to mention that mr. Tom died right besides are they lying about weapons of mass distruction till this day after 4 years of war has a single nuclear chemical or biological bomb been discovered in any part of iraq has ben laden been caught or even his right hand man el zawaheri after 5 years of war in afganistan? And molesting hundreds of iraqi and afghani women men and prisoners they r so busy doin that that they can't find the time to search 4 ben laden or mass destruction weapons our government is so busy spreading democracy in other countries that it can't find the time to uphold it in its own land leaving hundreds of imprisoned men in gwantanamou bay for more than 2 years with nothing officially charged against them with no right to an attorney and no phone call whatever happened to inoccent till proven guilty

If the government has anything against anyone of them then why doesn't it officialy prosecute them give them a chance to defend themselves because after all we are democratic and democracy is giving everybody the chance to speak even the bad guys what ever happened to freedom of speech? aljazeera isn't a bad station or ben laden's and al qaaeda devil's advocate or media corps because they say something we don't necessarily agree on it's their right just like it's our right to refuse to listen

If you don't read Arabic, your only clue to Aljazerra propaganda is the "Aljazerra Journal" (web search for it) featuring hard core articles, such as claiming US troops napalm innocents and run over wounded people with tanks. However, it doesn't take an interpreter to understand the artwork found on the Aljazeera Arabic site. It's slick and creative, and would put Hitler's propagandists to shame.
