Smack Down! Condolezza Rice Educates Katie Couric on Why We Invaded Iraq
Left-wing journalist Katie Couric gets smacked down by former Secretary of State Condolezza Rice in this interview. Couric, who incredibly is the anchor and managing editor of the CBS Evening News, trots out all the standard lies about our decision to go to war against Saddam Hussein's Iraq. I don't watch TV, so don't have much perspective on her, but hopefully Couric was just having a bad day, because she comes across as a complete dope. Here's the opening:
Couric: On Iraq books have been written, as you know, many, many books, documentaries that have been made about how intelligence was incorrectly analyzed, cherry picked, to build an argument for war, and memos from that time do suggest that officials knew there was a small chance of actually finding weapons of mass destruction in Iraq... there are some things that seem to suggest that in the build up to the actual war, that there was some doubt about that, wouldn't you say?Rice: incredulous laugh No, I don't agree with that at all.
Rice goes on to hand Couric her head. Couric comes across as at best just dumb and at worst someone who just parrots what she reads on bad left-wing web sites. Rice comes across as smart, well spoken, and knowledgeable. Or, as John Hinderaker of Powerline put it, Rice "provides a refreshingly adult take on the subject."

The number of things I can call bullshit on here...
"There have been no inspections for years" - Rice
There were inspections: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Iraq_and_weapons_of_mass_destruction
In fact, Saddam made a point of allowing inspectors to come in in the lead-up to the Iraq Invasion.
"He had used weapons of mass destruction" - Rice
He had used nerve gases, such as mustard gas (a staple of World War 1), which, though damaging, can hardly be viewed as weapons of *MASS* destruction (albeit White Phosphorus isn't labeled an incendiary, even though it burns more effectively than almost every incendiary out there, so we can't quite rely upon categorizations, now can we?). Also, how exactly is gas that has to be transported in drums and then dissipates into the air shortly thereafter going to be of any use against a modernized army (particularly since a pissed on sock if defense against Mustard Gas)
"There was some debate on the Nuclear Front" - Rice
Truth at last lol. So if there's uncertainty we should take irreversible actions? Pretty cavalier there.
Then she goes on a lovely paranoid rant about Russians. McCarthy much?
Condolezza comes out as some kind of revisionist historian trying to run damage control by spouting out platitudes and talking about "uncertainty". She also acknowledges that there was doubt, yet speaks of how they should act off of doubt as opposed to... oh I don't know... trying to gain a better understanding of the situation? Also, Couric seemed to be giving Condolezza the floor to speak as opposed to going "hand to hand" with her in any kind of debate.
You're really grasping at straws, Tom. "Oh no, Couric embarrassed Queen Palin, we must try and make her look like idiot! It say eye-for-eye in bible! And we love bible! We conservatives!". I'd ask what you were on when watching this, but "drugs are a liberal problem" (even though the states with the biggest drug use and crime rates are all Red States, little fun fact for you :P).

Baron - Please read my comments policy in its entirety, the link to which is in column to the right towards the top. Among other things, you'll see that cursing is not allowed.

Snake Hunter sez,
The Baron says "the states with the biggest drug & crime rates are red states"...I presume he means 'red-ink states' like California and Illinois; cuz they are nearest to bankruptcy!
As for Condi Rice, she speaks fluent Russian, knows more about Vladimir Putin than all of Obama's Gang-of-Chicago-Thieves, combined!
Another thing, Saddam knew his war with the U.S.
was near the end, and he shipped his (WMD) gas drums early on to Syria, with his red-haired general.
And, Katie Couric is an over-paid "journalist" and an O.S.I. George Soros Sock-Puppet. - reb
