The Gospel of Global Warming, er "Climate Change," Takes Another Hit
From Powerline:
And the House of Cards Starts to Come Down

As John noted here Tuesday, and I have noted several times over the last few weeks, the climate campaign is suffering body blows on an almost daily basis. The latest is the report, based on new and more comprehensive satellite data, that the ice melt in the Himalayas has been nil--zip, zilch, nada--over the last ten years. Here's how the left-wing Guardian newspaper in Britain reports it:
The world's greatest snow-capped peaks, which run in a chain from the Himalayas to Tian Shan on the border of China and Kyrgyzstan, have lost no ice over the last decade, new research shows. The discovery has stunned scientists, who had believed that around 50bn tonnes of meltwater were being shed each year and not being replaced by new snowfall.
The study is the first to survey all the world's icecaps and glaciers and was made possible by the use of satellite data. Overall, the contribution of melting ice outside the two largest caps - Greenland and Antarctica - is much less than previously estimated, with the lack of ice loss in the Himalayas and the other high peaks of Asia responsible for most of the discrepancy.Bristol University glaciologist Prof Jonathan Bamber, who was not part of the research team, said: "The very unexpected result was the negligible mass loss from high mountain Asia, which is not significantly different from zero."
It's fun watching these guys fall on their face in real time. The whole circus is falling apart much faster than I expected. I can tell you that around Washington the whole climate change angle is slowly being dropped from conversation about everything. It's almost like talking with normal people again.
It'd be funny but for the eco-tyranny they're trying to force on us.
Update
Go now to this must-read post over at Mike's America - Three Charts Debunk the Manmade Global Warming Myth: Sadly, there is too much money at stake for the alarmists to accept other scientific views! Yup, it's mostly the sun that's to blame.

Did you read the rest of that article from the Guardian?? Apparently not or you wouldn't have posted this as some sort of silver bullet. Well, right under the part where it says no ice has been lost in the Himalayas in the last decade, it says this:"but lead scientist says the loss of ice caps and glaciers around the world remains a serious concern"
So, the world’s glaciers and ice caps had lost about 148 billion tons, or about 39 cubic miles of ice annually from 2003 to 2010. Ice loss from both Greenland and Antarctica, including their peripheral ice caps and glaciers, was roughly 385 billion tons of ice annually.
You are being lied to...Typical, having to cut and paste and pick and chose what is being published and using that small sliver to make your headlines and ignoring all the other evidence that disputes your claims...

Oh I realize the alarmists aren't giving up. Ice is not melting like they thought it would in the Himalayas or Greenland, so they're shifting the debate to somewhere else. That they were totally wrong about those two locations does not give great confidence in any of their other claims.
Look, the basics are pretty simple. The earth's climate changes all the time. It's always getting hotter or colder. 30 years ago they scientists were convinced we were entering a new Ice Age (Time and Newsweek famously ran stories insisting on it). Right now the evidence is pretty contradictory as to what's going on. It's entirely probable that whatever's happening is caused by sunspots.
It's also very unclear as to whether mankind (can I still use that term) has had any effect on the process.
What is clear, though, is that all the "solutions" proposed by the envirocrazies would be all pain for no gain. Many or most of them (you) are socialists whose real agenda is to push us towards, well, socialism. Ain't gonna happen if I can help it.

Hey Toadbat: Cherries won't be in season for another 4 months. So stop trying to pick them early!
You talk about being lied to and "cut and paste"? Really? That's all you EVER do.
You are one of the most pre-programmed little socialist parrots I have ever seen.
There are NO FACTS that will cause you to think again. You simply repeat the same shopworn shibboleths over and over despite what new information is available.
In the years since global warming theory was first laid out enormous strides have been made in creating the instruments to prove or disprove the theory. Unfortunately for you the data shows that the theory is flawed beyond fixing.
All the predictions of doom and gloom over the past 25 years have been proven FALSE. At some point even you will have to realize YOU have been lied to. But not by us.

I don't think the debate EVER focused on the Himalayas and I have news for you, Greenland is in the Arctic is mostly glaciers and "ice cap". This is the first I have heard of anyone talking about the ice in the Himalayas...I think this is YOU picking and choosing something that makes it appear that you are debunking some bastion of climate change.
It is very clear that man kind HAS SOME effect on the process...Only the Santorums of the world who think the Earth has only been here for 10k years think the verdict is out. Yes there are cycles and various factors at play (over the course of 100s and even 1000s of years, not 50) but Venus has a higher average temperature as Mercury even though it is twice the distance away from the Sun...It has and maintains these temperatures due to an atmosphere of thick greenhouse gases...We have increased CO2 (one of several greenhouse gases) concentrations in our atmosphere 40% since the late 1800s and for every rise in CO2 in our atmosphere over the last 400,000 years, we have seen temperature increases. There is no way around these facts.
So you are at least someone who knows our planet is getting warmer right?? I know they still make the Republicans that don't believe it that anything is changing, which would have been the common consensus for you all 10 years ago...At least now, most of you accept that it is happening.
Ha! Mike! Talk about cut and paste...You are talking about MY predictions again..And yet again you come with no data, no facts...Useless. And actually, I'll bet cherries will be coming out a bit early this year...Hmm...Why would that be?
